*Important note: You are free to use any Antivirus that you like with our systems, however we do not support McAfee or Norton Antivirus products while using VOIP / SIP Services. It can cause a few issues with these applications and if so you will need to reach out to them for support in disabling features etc. For a list of free recommended antivirus programs feel free to reach out to the Help Desk we'll gladly assist!*
To temporarily disable McAfee you will need to disable both Net Guard and your firewall through the user interface.
To disable Net Guard:
- Open your security software.
- Select Web and Email Protection.
- Select Firewall.
- Select Net Guard.
- Disable Net Guard using the box beside Turn on Net Guard (Recommended).
To disable the Firewall:
- Open your product.
- Click Navigation.
- Click Firewall.
- Click Turn Off.
The icon turns gray and displays a red and white exclamation point. Also, the color bar in SecurityCenter turns red and reports that your computer is at risk. You may enable your firewall once again after installing the zipwire plugin.

To temporarily disable Norton Antivirus:
In Advanced Settings when you launch the Norton 360 interface, you can turn ON and OFF many of the Norton Security’s real time protection features. Please see picture below.
I would recommend for installing to turn off autoprotect and SONAR Protect as well as Smart Firewall and lastly Download Intelligence.
If you are experiencing issues with Zipwire I would suggest turning off Smart Firewall, and Browser Protection and Safe Surfing to test for conflict between your Norton and Zipwire applications.
